Re: November Review
Here is an overview of the key activities we worked on in relation to teaching and learning this month.
Monday's: We had an excellent month for staff working together during collaboration time. The first Monday was used to prepare us for our Navigation lessons and the rest of the Monday's were used to work on our School Improvement Plan. Specifically we have indentified three goals and staff is divided into the three goal area teams. During the work on these goals, staff read one or more chapters of the book "The Art and Science of Teaching" to better frame their discussions around current educational research. Each group will be making their recommendations to the entire staff on Monday, December 20th.
Other information: Our staff has also been working on finding a way to combine our Opportunity Time and Navigation 101 time. We believe both programs are valuable and helpful to direct and guide our students. We believe combining the two into one concentrated effort with one staff member assigned to 16-20 kids would be the most effective use of our time and energies. The food drive went over well this year and we were pleased to have many Interact students involved in the sorting of the food at the conclusion of the drive.
All is all it was a good productive month at Woodland High School.
