Re: Lewis River Academy K-8 Report
Annual Alternative School Improvement Plan:
This year we have updated our school improvement plan. This plan is required of schools with class sizes smaller than 40. It details last year's student achievement at each grade level, goals for this year, and steps to ensure continued improvement in student achievement. Please see attached.
After School Functions:
I am continually grateful for support from other Woodland schools. Partnerships with them provide our students with many opportunities they wouldn't normally have access to.
Recently Woodland Middle School hosted a school dance for 7th and 8th graders, and a movie for 5th and 6th graders. Some of our LRA students were interested in attending as they are friends with kids who attend WMS. I met with the middle school principal, Jake Hall, and he was happy to include students from LRA in future after school events as they are part of the Woodland community! The only requirement is that we communicate in advance which of our students plan to attend each event and send them emergency contact information.
Therefore, in the future if kids wish to attend an after school event hosted at WMS they will send an email the week prior to the event. We will then forward the list of students and their emergency contact information to the middle school so they can expect and safely supervise LRA students. If families fail to communicate and just show up, they will be not allowed in for safety reasons.
We are so pleased our students get to participate in functions like this in the future. Thank you Woodland middle school for welcoming our students to your functions. It means the world to our kids.
