Here is an overview of the key activities we worked on in relation to teaching and learning this month.
Monday's: We had an excellent month for staff working together during collaboration time. The first Monday was used to prepare us for our Navigation lessons, the second Monday was used for our Grade Level support teams which is a discussion regarding our kids with 2 or more F's and how we can implement additional interventions and the final Monday's were used for department collaborations.
Other information: Our first quarter grades were much better this year than previous years. We noticed significant reductions in our number of students with failing grades. We actually had a mini celebration with our staff and I was pleased that you were able to join in this celebration. Although it is just one piece of information, I do feel these improved marks were a direct result of our changing attitude and our work in Opportunity Time. We have senior students now completing online lessons for Navigations and many of the seniors are finding these lessons interesting and informative. The food drive went over well this year and we were pleased to have many Interact students involved in the sorting of the food at the conclusion of the drive. We were also pleased to recognize Patty O'Flynn for receiving her national board certification this month. This is quite a prestigious accomplishment. On a final note, we did celebrate Veterans Day with another video produced by Mr. Uhlenkott's leadership class. The video was shown school wide on November 10th.
All is all it was a good productive month at Woodland High School.
