WIS Report

Woodland Intermediate School
Monthly Update
October, 2010

Throughout the month of October our professional development focused on goals associated with our Title 1 School Wide Plan. Grade level teams also spent time developing consistency in the area of grading practices.

Student involved conferences took place on October 19^th through October 21^st.  Conferences were very well attended. 

Fifth grade classes had a successful field trip to the Ape Caves, Tale of Two Forests, and Mt. St. Helens.  Many parents commented on how well behaved, on task and positive the WIS students were throughout the trip.

Several staff members have volunteered to participate on a committee that will look at transitioning to a standards based grading system. The committee work is aligned with our School Wide Plan.

We are excited to have Jim Imhoff in the building during the afternoon of November 17^th. Jim will be facilitating a thee hour Step Up to Writing training for staff.

Our 6^th grade students will be taking the MSP test online this year. We are already meeting with the technology department and WMS staff members as we begin to plan for this transition.
