On October 23rd and 24th the WIS Schoolwide team spent two full days analyzing standards based assessment data in both reading and math, reviewing last year's goals/activities, and revising goals/activities to best address the needs of our current student population.
Student involved conferences took place on October 16th through October 19th. Conferences were well attended. Last year we conducted a parent survey pertaining to the format of our conferences. The majority of parents preferred student involved conferences.
Fifth grade classes had a successful field trip to the Ape Caves, Tale of Two Forests, and Mt. St. Helens. Many parents commented on how well behaved, on task, and positive the WIS students were throughout the trip.
On October 4th we hosted an MSP Awards Assembly. Students were recognized for awards in the areas of most improved, perfect scores, and 4's on both the reading and math assessments. The reflector published a very nice article recognizing our assembly. Mayor Laseke, Police Chief Stephenson, and Fire Chief Jackson were all on hand to assist with delivering awards. Several parents in attendance commented on this being a fantastic activity.
