Transition: In preparation for the transition in leadership effective January 1, 2017, I met with the teaching team at Yale Elementary in December. We discussed the state of the school in regard to immediate needs, communication processes, and curriculum. Instructional coach Pat Jones joined this meeting to learn more about the needs of Yale moving forward, as we craft a plan to design a model of support for the school.
We made some preliminary priorities during this initial meeting and will be examining some specific issues in the very near future. We will plan for instructional support for curriculum implementation, examine potential facility needs, and engage in final stages of school improvement planning. We will spend time determining our next steps over the coming weeks, and look forward to engaging the Yale community in this process!
Gabe Murfitt Assembly: Yale students will have the opportunity to join WPS students for an inspirational assembly January 19th. Students are excited to come “down river” to be part of this special event. This collaboration is an example of plans to integrate students and staff when events or training might be of benefit to the Yale learning community. We are excited to look for more opportunities to bring our schools together and increase support for all learners.
