RE: Woodland High School Board Report
Senior Week
We spent an amazing, fun, and busy week honoring our seniors. The festivities started off on June 2nd, followed by Athletics Awards night on June 5, Senior Recognition on June 6, TEAM graduation on June 7, move-up assembly on Jun 8, ending with a parade of graduates, and commencement on June 9. All told I would estimate that we hosted about 2,200 guests on our campus over the course of those events.
During the move-up assembly, we created several new traditions. First, the 8th graders were able to join us. Second, we created a teacher tunnel for students to run through who had successfully completed their Seal of Biliteracy or were named to the Academic top 5% or Academic Scholars. We ran it as we do for the starting lineups, complete with drums and cheering. The third addition was the signing event. For every senior who wished to participate, we created a vinyl flag (a repurposed swim lane flag) that had that student’s name and post-secondary plans printed on it. At the end of the assembly, students came to the front to sign their flag. We plan to display those flags publicly, building up a record of our students’ aspirations year after year.
Here are some photos of that week just for fun:
