Re: WMS April 2022 Board Report
The following are the key happenings at Woodland Middle School:
FOURTH GRADE VISIT
We are working collaboratively with Columbia, North Fork, and Yale to plan a fourth-grade visit to WMS. In the past, this has been a fun event that allows our incoming fifth graders to take a tour, learn more about our school, and meet leadership. This helps alleviate fears and we think it will be beneficial to return to this practice. Our tentative date is 5/27.
SECRETARY AND TEACHER APPRECIATION
On Wednesday, 4/27, we will celebrate our secretaries during Administrative Professionals Day. They do an awesome job and we salute their efforts. We will celebrate the rest of our staff (both certified and classified) during the week of 5/2-5/6. We are thankful for the families and community members working behind the scenes to honor our team. The PTSA is once again sponsoring a WMS luncheon and continually seeks out ways to encourage our staff.
SPORTS
We have our first track meet on Monday, 4/18, and are happy to say that we have 71 athletes participating this year. We will be hosting the track championships at WHS on 5/11/22. We also have one student on the girls’ golf team this year traveling to matches and playing against other middle school athletes. It is enjoyable to see all the smiling faces and kids enjoying sports again.
HOPE SQUAD
Our Hope squad students recently recognized peers that display empathy and kindness to fellow classmates.
